One of the original Suns, Gail Goodrich was selected by Phoenix in the 1968 Expansion
Draft. "Goody" would play two years in the Valley, leading the club
in scoring in its inaugural season (23.8 ppg) and in assists during
both of his years in purple and orange (6.9). Gail was also one of
the Suns' first-ever All-Stars and helped guide the club to its
first playoff appearance in 1970. In May, 1970, Goodrich was traded
to the Lakers, where he spent his most successful years as a
player, and in 1996, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
